Why We Built This Site
New York has several official access routes, yet none serves as a complete public Oswego County rap-sheet search. The Sheriff’s Office holds its incident and county custody material. Fulton City Court, Oswego City Court, town and village courts, and County Court maintain their own case files. DCJS offers fingerprint-based Personal Record Review only to the subject of the record. New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the New York State Sex Offender Registry answer different questions. We organize those distinct channels, their contacts, and their limits in one reference.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: ways to reach the Oswego County Sheriff, criminal court clerks, and New York statewide systems
- Record guides: how to search and read Oswego County criminal court case records
- Official review routes: how DCJS Personal Record Review and the OCA court-record search differ
- Record sealing context: where New York sealing law affects public access and which court holds the file
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of Oswego County, a New York court, a police department, or a state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We do not issue certified court papers, police reports, or DCJS criminal-history responses
- We cannot submit FOIL requests, sealing motions, or other filings for a reader
- We do not run official record checks or retrieve another person’s state rap sheet
- We cannot interpret a charge, recommend a legal strategy, or provide legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency’s fee, address, hours, or phone number has not changed
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Sheriff’s Office, the court clerk, DCJS, DOCCS, or the registry.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes shown on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, prices, and results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports this site’s operation. We do not set those charges, compile the returned data, or control what a partner displays.
